On the 29th and 30th of October, the BLUEFRONT consortium gathered at the Finnish Institute in Athens, Greece, to chart the course for our ambitious project. Partners from Hyvärilä Nuoriso-ja matkailukeskus (Finland), Filef Basilicata (Italy), Youth Bridges Budapest (Hungary), Friends of Don Bosco (Malta), and LATRA (Greece) came together to align our efforts and ensure that BLUEFRONT delivers measurable impact across Europe.

Diving Deep into Our Work Packages
Over two productive days, we delved into the key components of BLUEFRONT, focusing on the work packages that will guide the project through its various stages:
WP1: Project Management and Coordination: We reviewed roles and responsibilities to ensure smooth communication and collaboration among partners. Clear timelines and deliverables were set to keep our efforts on track.
WP2: Research and Needs Assessment: Partners discussed the focus groups and community research that will lay the foundation for BLUEFRONT’s activities. Together, we refined our strategies to identify barriers and opportunities for youth participation in the blue economy.
WP3: Development of the Learning Framework: This session centered on designing a curriculum that equips youth and youth workers with skills in water justice advocacy, blue economy principles, and sustainable practices. Partners contributed innovative ideas to make the framework practical, engaging, and impactful.
WP4: Youth-led Community Actions: Strategies were crafted to empower young people to lead community-based projects addressing water-related challenges. From creating local roadmaps for sustainable water use to engaging homes and businesses, we outlined steps to turn ideas into action.
WP5: Awareness Campaigns and Digital Advocacy: A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the social media and digital tools we’ll leverage to amplify youth voices. Together, we brainstormed creative ways to make water justice a trending conversation across Europe.
Collaboration in Action
This meeting wasn’t just about planning—it was about building synergy. By sharing best practices and regional insights, we strengthened our collective vision for BLUEFRONT. Partners from Finland brought expertise in the blue economy, while representatives from Hungary, Malta, and Italy shared insights into environmental advocacy and youth engagement. Greece, with its unique aquatic challenges, highlighted the importance of addressing water justice in coastal and rural areas.
Crafting Impactful Outcomes
Our ultimate goal is to make BLUEFRONT a powerful force for youth-driven change in Europe’s blue economy. From raising awareness about water justice to equipping young leaders with tools for advocacy, we’re committed to creating lasting impact.
Key takeaways from the meeting include:
A unified roadmap for implementing project activities.
Enhanced strategies for collaboration across regions.
Fresh ideas for fostering youth participation in sustainability.
Looking Ahead
This consortium meeting marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Over the next months, we’ll continue to collaborate, innovate, and deliver milestones that bring us closer to a more sustainable future.
