Building the future of BLUEFRONT: Upskilling our team in online learning

To build a truly impactful online learning experience for the BLUEFRONT project, our team needs to be equipped with the very best tools and techniques. That’s why we were thrilled to have two of our team members participate in the HOP CRASH COURSE for trainers and facilitators this year!

The blended course, which combined online activities with a residential training in Kamena Vourla, Greece, was the perfect opportunity for our team to dive deep into the world of online education. Csenge Kolozsvári from Youth Bridges Budapest (Hungary) and Louis Debono from Friends of Don Bosco (Malta) attended the training from June 2-7, gaining valuable new skills and hands-on experience with the SALTO HOP platform—the future home of our BLUEFRONT course.

We asked Csenge to share her experience:

“This was one of the best training courses I have ever participated in. It started with online activities where we immediately began working on our own courses on the HOP platform. This hands-on approach was maintained throughout the whole event and was extremely beneficial. During the residential training, I really felt like I was not only learning, but also doing my job! What is SALTO-YOUTH and the HOP Platform?

For those new to the European youth work landscape, SALTO-YOUTH is a vital network of Resource Centres. It offers a wealth of non-formal educational resources for youth workers and leaders, alongside training and networking activities that support organizations and National Agencies. Its HOP platform is specifically designed to promote high-quality online learning within the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes.

The BLUEFRONT MOOC is coming to HOP!

This training was a critical step in our journey to create the BLUEFRONT Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Our partnership is hard at work developing the methodology that will form the foundation of this exciting learning experience.

The course will feature at least five modules focused on the blue economy, water justice, and youth-led environmental advocacy. Mark your calendars! A facilitated version of the course is scheduled to run from August 2026 to February 2027. After that, it will remain available as a free, self-paced resource on the HOP platform for any youth worker, teacher, or young person ready to make a difference.
